Your own professional medical kit and instruction cards
During the training, you’ll receive an emergency medical kit to take with you on your future missions. The kit’s contents are specially selected for remote areas without adequate medical facilities nearby. During the Medical First Aid module, you’ll learn how to use similar medical supplies.
You’ll also receive instruction cards. These waterproof and compact information cards summarize the key modules of the HEAT training. You can take these cards with you on your mission and use them as a quick reference if you encounter an emergency.
Safe learning environment
A safe learning environment is maintained at all times during the course. Your safety and well-being are our primary concerns. More than 20 different trainers and actors are involved in this course. Professionals are always present for supervision and to offer advice. We have an extra psychosocially trained staff member present to guarantee a safe learning environment.
Before and during the course, you can share prior experiences with the trainers. They can discreetly adapt the course for you to ensure this will be the best and safest learning experience you have ever had. And if you need extra personal guidance, we will make time for it.
Practice through hyper-realistic simulations
The course methods are based on role-playing, hyper-realistic simulations, and a continuous storyline. For five days, you will be submerged in a scenario. The course is situated in a war-torn village in a professional exercise center. You will be part of a team assessing a crisis in a foreign country. The scenario starts when you arrive at the course location and ends after five days. Theory and practical learning are combined with situation updates that will require action from your team. You will travel to several locations and will be confronted with ethical dilemmas, hostile situations and constant pressure due to insecurity.
What participants say about our Advanced HEAT Course
"Amazing, thanks for the training. One of the bests I have had. Trainers and actors were top-notch, amazing exercises (very funny at the same time) and come back to the theory to make the link. It was a learning and living experience to work along other participants."
"Learning about myself was the greatest benefit of the course, followed by the actual theoretical and practical knowledge that have been taught. Having instructors with a thorough background makes things easier. Definitely a new experience, a great experience."
"I learned how to let go of the ego and just accept what is happening. Letting go of my usual reactions from my work. Understanding the reactions in the body and mind without having to do anything about it. Trust your senses. Great acting."

Participant safety is crucial in all our training courses. We can tailor the training to your mental and physical limits if you communicate them to us. You are also free to take a time-out at any time. If you feel we can accommodate you in a better way, we can adjust the course to ensure you have the best learning experience.
There is no sleep deprivation (intentionally depriving participants of sleep) in our open courses; we will not wake you up at night. A well-rested participant learns more than a tired participant. Also, in our open courses, sleep deprivation is not a learning goal.
